Tamoxifen is a medicine which suppresses the production of the hormone oestrogen (one of the female hormones). Tamoxifen is one drug which may be given to women who have had breast cancer, if their cancer has shown in tests to respond to oestrogen. This lessens the chance of the cancer coming back.
