I'd like to tell you a story I was told at the National Conference of Cancer Self Help Groups. The story concerns a young man who had cancer, and was surprised when his brother phoned to say he was coming to stay at the weekend. He asked him why he was coming, and his brother replied 'Well, it's the rugby – we always go to the rugby together'. The young man said this was the best thing anyone had done for him – just treat him as normal and treat the rugby as more important than the cancer!
Do you have a similar story? Or is there something normal that you're assuming you 'can't' do because someone has cancer? Find a way if you can, and then tell us about it.
(It also reminds me of the time my best friend brought me a takeaway curry in hospital, but that's another story!)
