Chronic idiopathic myelofibrosis is a condition where scar tissue develops in the bones. In time it may lower the ability of the bone marrow to produce blood cells. This may in turn lead to enlargement of the liver and spleen as they produce blood cells to compensate for those not being produced in the bone marrow.
