Paclitaxel is a chemotherapy drug derived from the bark of one kind of yew tree. It is given on its own or mixed with other drugs, most commonly for breast cancer, ovarian cancer or non small cell lung cancer. Like other chemotherapy drugs, Paclitaxel has a range of side effects which could be caused by the treatment.

Palliative care is a term used to describe the care and management of people and their illnesses, where the care is not expected to cure the illness. Palliative care may be for people whose disease is terminal (they are expected to die from it) or simply where they have a long-term condition which needs care or treatment to improve their quality of life.

Palliative cancer care may be delivered in hospital, hospice or at home.

Pancreatic cancer occurs when there is a tumour (abnormal growth) in the pancreas...

Pancreatic cancer occurs when there is a tumour (abnormal growth) in the pancreas. The pancreas is a part of the body which makes substances that help us digest our food and control our blood sugar levels.

Symptoms of pancreatic cancer can include unexplained weight loss, abdominal pain or jaundice. Treatments may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy or a combination of these.

A diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in the family can be very frightening, because of what you see in the media about people with pancreatic cancer. The outlook for any particular person will depend on how early their cancer has been found and how agressive it is, so it may help to find out more specific information about their cancer stage.

Prostate cancer occurs only in men, and involves the growth of abnormal cells in the prostate. The prostate is a gland which produces semen. Most prostate cancer happens in men over the age of 50, is slow growing and does not cause any major problems. However for those who are younger or where the cancer grows more quickly, treatment will be needed.
